To balance the turbine unit in its own bearings at operating speed

To eliminate unbalance, dynamic balancing of rotors on low-speed balancing machines and dynamic balancing of the entire turbine unit shafting in its own bearings at operating speed are performed.

The pendulum-type balancing machine has flexible (movable) supports made in the form of machine head hangers on flat bands. The machine operates in resonance mode (more precisely, with passing through resonance). During balancing, the rotor is rotated to a speed higher than the resonant speed for the system (rotor-supports) and then the electric drive is switched off. When the rotor coasts out, the rotor-support system passes through the resonance mode, at which the machine head oscillations caused by the unbalance on the rotor will be greatest. This allows a high sensitivity of the machine tool and the use of relatively simple measuring instruments. In addition, the resonance system is a kind of filter that eliminates extraneous harmful vibrations.
